Harvest Resources – Use Waste

About Harvesting Waste

Already, there are thousands of people, companies, organizations working to reverse the man-made problems that cause climate change …. in pursuit of harmony with planet Earth

I came to my particular view and ideas from some very different sources……

One, was the vision of a famous American inventor by the name of R. Buckminster Fuller, who among many things said in the 1980’s……………………..

Pollution is nothing but the resources we are not harvesting. We allow them to disperse because we have been ignorant of their value.

… so many ideas; The Whole Earth Catalog, Earth Day, GreenPeace, WWF ……………

Here are some of the basic ideas and facts about our planet Earth:

All the elements in our ecosystem fill a place in an intensely complicated pattern of give and take, that is our biosphere.  Almost all flora and fauna in our biosphere automatically fill their role in the all over system.
– The only creature that has learned how to change the system to work for its benefit, is mankind.  This makes mankind the ultimate guardian of Earth’s biosphere.  Mankind is not doing a good job as guardian. Humans are the only species that has gone out past the system and increased WASTE from what planet Earth has to give them.
Earth’s energy will not conform to your wishes. You are left to deal with the consequences of your actions.
Earth will compensate for the changes you make, whether good for humans or bad.
Earth is not angry.  Earth is just working with what it is given or left from what humans have taken.  Since the Earth is energy that is always in motion, it must deal with what there is.   The consequences are more heat, too much or too little water, more freak weather; some kind of change.
All flora and fauna in our biosphere create some kind of Waste that planet Earth knows what to do with. Planet Earth must deal with it because it is all energy. But the human addition to the WASTE is far bigger than anything else’s. Our Waste has many forms: Trash, Muck, Emissions, and other names…. How does Earth deal with our Waste? – – — How can we humans help Earth deal with our Waste?

>>>Mr. Fuller also said, “You never change things by fighting the existing reality.  To change something, build a new model that makes the existing model obsolete.”    AND that is exactly what has happened………………………………………

Re-think Progress: The Circular Economy
(About Harvesting the Waste)

In 2010, a woman named Ellen MacArthur launched a foundation that looked into all this thinking and built a “new model”. A new operating system to re-think the Earth’s economy, our way of thinking, ways of doing business and producing products and collecting what is left after we have finished using those products.  A new model from more than 30 years of thinking and development by many people.
The essence of the foundation’s model is explained in this video, released in 2012…………

(3:48 min)

So many people have worked on these ideas. The momentum is already a race and people are really beginning to get really serious about it. The idea of an “ethical consumer” is taking root.

“In nature there are neither rewards nor punishment; there are only consequences.”

– Robert B. Ingersoll

And here we have the history of what has resulted from those consequences…..

3:30 minutes – Welcome to the Anthropocene
From the end of the transcript: …Greenhouse gas levels this high have not been seen for over 1 million years.  Temperatures are increasing.  We have made a hole in the ozone layer.  We are losing biodiversity.  Many of the world’s deltas are sinking due to damming, mining and other causes.  Sea level is rising. Ocean acidification is a real threat.  WE are altering Earth’s natural cycles.  WE have entered the Anthropocene; a geological epoch dominated by humanity.  This relentless pressure on our planet risks unprecedented de-stabilization.  BUT our creativity, energy and industry offer us hope.  WE have shaped our past.  WE are shaping our present.  WE can shape our future.  YOU and I are a part of this story.  WE are the first generation to realize this new responsibility.  As the  population grows to nine billion, WE must find a safe operating space for humanity.  For the sake of future generations!
Welcome to the Anthropocene!

But WE are not taking on this new responsibility fast enough!

There is not enough focus on Closing-the-Loop – Dealing with the Waste.

transcript:

Ms. Ellen MacArthur, EMF Founder:

When we entered into the climate space and we looked in great detail at how the circular economy can help us to tackle climate change, it really struck me that so much of the climate conversation is about switching to renewables and energy efficiency.  Which is obviously absolutely vital. That we know.  We understand that.  Everybody understands that, but then there’s a kind of 45% which is about how we make products.  How we use products.  That could be, you know, cars or phones or food systems.  They have a massive implication towards climate change.  And yet in the conversation, that part doesn’t seem to be illustrated as well, particularly at cop26.  Do you think it’s there enough?

and

Ms. Christiana Figueres, 2015 Paris Agreement Leader:

>> NO! I know it’s definitely not there enough and I am thoroughly delighted that you all are pushing on this because to be perfectly honest we are still at a point in which most of the effort and most of the focus and most of the financing is going toward how do we produce “X”.  How do we produce energy. How do we produce transport. How do we produce food.  And so we’re still very much caught into the “linear” thinking.  And still caught in chapters one and two, about ”linear” thinking. Right?  Which is extraction and use and we haven’t closed the loop to figure out.
And then what happens, once you produce the solar panel, once you produce the the wind turbine,  once you produce the electric vehicle? And then what? And it’s that and then what, that we’re not focusing on, yet.  Right?  We’re going at this and addressing climate and emissions very much from a “linear” economy perspective, without fast forwarding or thinking to the end of that linear and then asking, you know, the very difficult question, “Then what happens?”  And then we’re surprised. Right? We’re surprised when somebody comes up with saying, “Well then, you know.  When you produce all of these EVs, then the batteries.  We’re going to have to discard!  Here is the environmental, you know, damage from those batteries, etc, etc, etc.  Well why didn’t we think about that at the very beginning and design that differently ?!?!?!”

“Well why didn’t we think about that
at the very beginning
and design [the discard] differently”
