News and Thought-Leadership on the Circular Economy

2 concepts come to mine, both important –
>>>Circulate – a closed-loop system. Yes, it is circular,
>>>BUT “Circulate” also means talk to people – Network.

Reporting from the frontline of the circular economy – Circulate
The Ellen MacArthur Foundation publication – Circulate – is now found on the Medium website – where ideas take shape.
From Circulate:
23 NOVEMBER, 2017 an interesting project that has stopped but the story is still interesting and serious, if someone else might want to do it.
GLUES
Glues are a circular economy nightmare. They are a major problem when it comes to opening up used products to capture their parts and/or to separate materials in order to create pure streams and achieve proper recycling.
Circular economy initiatives in the built environment – for example by BAM or Arup – have also encountered this hurdle. In response, some developers have started building with “dry connections”. Different building materials like wood, varieties of plastic and concrete can be easily recovered if only screws are used. It’s a great solution, but not easy to implement in products like packaging, carpet, mattresses and the like.
So what about a glue that works like a screw? That’s the idea behind the DSM-Niaga joint-venture. Deploying this solution starts off in the same way. The glue does what other glues do, holds layers together for the lifetime of a product. What is different however, is that this glue “unclicks” when exposed to a signal after use. This “screw glue” enables the recovery of pure materials after use, and thereby increases the business case for recycling. …
