Gasification and the Garbage Disappears!
No More to Landfill
The future is NO LANDFILLS.
We, the People of planet Earth, in Order to return to a more live-able climate, use planet Earth’s methods to conserve the planet’s resources, promote the general Welfare of all creatures living on planet Earth, do say and work toward a future of Clean Air and Healthy Climate by recreating landfills into “Renewable Energy Stations”.
in this post
What if these dots, that might be Landfills, became “Renewable Energy Stations”
The dots below suggest all the Landfills in the world.
What if they all became “Renewable Energy Stations” with established renewable energy equipment of various types. And where non-recyclable types of Waste disappear with no heavy GHG gases emitted and result in a very versatile Synthetic Gas – known as Syngas.

There is now a big effort to cut methane gas from seeping into our skies from Landfills.
The clamor for Garbage to Disappear,
the search for Clean Fuels and
No GHG Emissions in the process
– can be solved in one operation – Gasification
Soiled Waste turned into Syn-Gas can be used in many ways! – “Gasification” the technology for our future
The US Department of Energy defines Gasification as
“A process technology that is designed and operated for the purpose of producing synthesis gas (a commodity which can be used to produce fuels, chemicals or power) through the chemical conversion of carbonaceous materials.”
In the gasification process, the MSW is not a fuel, but a feedstock for a high temperature chemical conversion process. The MSW reacts with little or no oxygen, breaking it down into simple molecules and converting them into syngas.
Why is Gasification better than Incineration?
What makes gasification and incineration different?
*Incineration is hot destruction of Waste by burning in a furnace that produces the kind of smoke that includes a long list of pollutants and GHG gases that must be filtered before release into the atmosphere caused by the combustion of the feedstock. The only form of energy produced is heat – steam to power electricity generators.
*Gasification is a high temperature chemical conversion process (no combustion), taking carbon based feed stocks such as municipal solid waste [MSW] and converting them into synthetic gas (called Syngas). The syngas produced is a very flexible fuel source which has many uses including hydrogen and the generation of electricity. As the MSW is not burned there are almost no emissions, BUT the MSW disappears.
Why is Gasification better than a Landfill?
Gasification is significantly faster at making Gas than a Landfill and makes the MSW disappear – 1,2,3 and the MSW is gone and there is Clean Syngas.
So you are going to tell me that incineration is fast too.
Gasification is significantly cleaner and more versatile than burning
The main form of energy produced from incineration is heat, by burning.
The main form of energy produced from Gasification is syngas, no burning, no pollutants emitted and results in a list of much more versatile fuels/energy.
Again the basics:

Featured in The New York Times, FastOx® gasification is shaking up the waste industry by powering homes and fueling cars with trash.
How it works at scale:
The company’s first commercial-scale demonstration facility is located at US Army Garrison Fort Hunter Liggett in Monterey County, California.
FastOx System Installed at U.S. Army Garrison Fort Hunter Liggett in California.
This facility provides Sierra Energy with the unique capability to demonstrate all core aspects of a high-temperature gasification system in a fully integrated facility from waste preparation through production of particulate and tar-free syngas.
This U.S. Army Base wanted to significantly lower the risk, cost, and carbon footprint related to the transporting and disposal of trash produced at the training facility. The FastOx gasification system on site has been designed to convert post-recycled, municipal solid waste generated on the garrison into electricity and fuels to help the military achieve its energy security and zero-waste goals.
Waste Gasification: How Old Technology Can Solve a Modern Problem
Despite incineration’s growing popularity in many parts of the world, it is also infamous among environmentalists for releasing harmful pollutants into the atmosphere and sucks in MSW so fast that the process of reuse, recycling is almost forgotten.
LOOK HOW CLIMATE FRIENDLY THE DIFFERENCE IS!
| Issue | Gasification | Incineration |
| Air | Little to No Air | Air is part of the incinerator’s combustion requirements |
| Ash | No Ash | Depending on the technology: Ash pollutes our soil, groundwater, lakes, rivers and streams. The Ash resulting from incineration must be disposed of, mostly likely in a landfill. |
| Byproduct | inert stone and molten metals, no waste, sold as construction aggregate | Ash or ?construction aggregate |
| Combustion | No combustion. Oxygen and steam break down the feedstock at the molecular level | There must be combustion to make fire for heat and steam that is used for internal combustion generators to make electricity |
| Emissions | Very little Emissions; some water and oxygen Gasification produces Syngas with limited or no oxygen. | toxic emissions, Dioxins and furans and CO, CO2, N2O, particulate matter from combustion. Emissions from the incinerator must be filtered before they leave the incinerator. |
| Energy Produced Result | chemical conversion to SynGas, which has many uses | only Heat to electricity |
| Electricity produced from 1 ton of MSW | 1 ton of MSW to up to 1,000 kilowatt-hours of electricity | 1 ton of MSW to about 550 kilowatt-hours of electricity |
| Feedstock | Flexible, Municipal Solid Waste or Mixed Wastes | Municipal Solid Waste of any kind |
| Feedstock Preparation | The Feedstock for the Gasifier must be Dry to >30% moisture | No preparation needed of the feedstock for the fire |
| Percentage of Reduction of Municipal Solid Waste (MSW)? | 90% | 90% – 96% |
| Fuel used to heat in the process? | fuel produced by the process is partly used for the heat in the process | fossil and other kinds of fuel |
| Smoke? | No Smoke | Smoke that pollutes the air we breathe / toxic emissions, Dioxins and furans and CO, CO2, N2O, particulate matter from combustion. |
| Source for generating electricity | Fuel | Heat |
| Temperature range | Heat not Fire 2,200°C/4,000°F | Fire of 400 degrees Fahrenheit up to 9000 degrees Fahrenheit (200 to 4980 degrees Celsius) |

Plasco Conversion Technologies Inc. changes name to OMNI Conversion Technologies Inc.

Rather than send more garbage and non-recyclable waste to landfill, what if we could harness the energy in that waste for another purpose? We offer a way to do that with our omnivorous waste conversion system that transforms trash into valuable clean fuels.
The Omni200 is a leading waste-to-clean fuels conversion system. This patented technology takes in feedstock, passes it through a thermo-chemical process and refines it into synthetic gases. After partical oxidation, polishing with plasma breaks the bonds of molecules to generate a tar-free syngas. The heat from this process returns to the gasification stage which eliminates the need for emissions (stack) and residuals.

Municipal Solid Waste (MSW) is the biggest problem of the present world, where MSW is dumped in landfills making huge mountains of waste, creating havoc with the environment due to foul smell, spoils the ground water in rains.
The other solution is incineration, which again spoils the environment, so Gasification has come up as a best possible solution for treatment of MSW.

WHY PLASMA
Plasma is one of the four common states of matter – solid, liquid, gas, and plasma. Plasma is an electrically charged gas. A plasma torch produces a flow that reaches from 3500º to 4000º C. When that flow comes into contact with solid carbon materials, it produces Syngas.

Renewable Energy Stations
What is a Renewable Energy Station?
OK make the Garbage (MSW) disappear, but don’t burn it
and end up with clean renewable energy of different kinds.
Here is a cleaner way to use your land!

Today, we have landfills. We pull the Landfill Gas (LFG) out of the landfill, filter it and turn it into Renewable Natural Gas (RNG). It is piped into the same pipes that contain the NG that is pulled out of planet Earth.

Now, take that landfill with the gas processing (or producing electricity) and when the landfill closes completely there will still be LFG to be drawn out of it for a number of years.
BUT what to do with the land on top of the landfill once it is closed ??
Step 1: The top of a closed landfill is a perfect place to put other renewable energy equipment, such as
a solar farm !
And what to do after all the LFG gas is emptied out of the Landfill??
Step 2: Here comes the Gasifier…..
This is a picture of Sierra Energy’s FastOx Gasification system

FROM this point on, instead of LFG, the newly installed Gasifier will produce Syngas direct from any non-recyclable Waste that is brought to this Renewable Energy Station, that sits on top of an old, closed and gas empty landfill.
The Waste is used to make clean Syngas without any GHG gases emitted.
The resultant (updated)
“Renewable Energy Station”
is now producing Electricity
from the solar panels
and producing Clean Fuel
from the Gasifier.
The Waste will continue to disappear….on into the future.
This is only the simplest description of what the “Renewable Energy Station” can be.
It can house a number of different renewable energy processes.
Maybe you can start Today……….
If your community has a closed landfill, it is ready for Step 1 :
Put some other renewable energy equipment, such as a solar farm, on top of it !
If your community’s closed landfill is finishing the LFG gas in it, you are ready to consider Step 2 : Time for your community council to research a gasifier to complete your community’s
“Renewable Energy Station”
…..Waste to Syngas into the future and the MSW disappears.
A cleaner way to use your land!
Syngas is only one of a number of ways to produce Renewable Natural Gas (RNG) from Waste, but “RNG from Waste” is such a growing industry that it had strong expansion even in the USA in 2025 and 2026 has begun with encouraging signals.
We can take Value from our Waste
and Clean up the Climate Today!
